Mission
The Breitner Academy is the institution of the AHK that focuses on art, design and education. It promotes learning of and through the visual arts by training teachers and by initiating research and innovation activities at the intersection of visual culture and education from the creative metropolis Amsterdam.

Vision
The Breitner Academy sees art as a specific (learnable) symbol system that allows people to visualize and excange ideas and feelings. She aspires to be an artistic - educational expertisecentre of unique significance to its environment. The academy aims to build strong and lasting partnerships with schools, museums and cultural institutions in order to realize its ambitions. In addition, it focuses on close cooperation with other art teacher-studyprogrammes within AHK to promote interdisciplinarity in the arts.
